Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Review

Image
Mention the term ‘reboot’ in some quieter circles of the internet and you’re liable for a pasting. The slightest hint that an older story is being retold causes people to lose their freaking minds. So … Director Jonathan Liebesman has remade Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and guess what?! It’s actually a fun action film, possibly even better than the 1990 version and, judging by the screaming nine year olds who were in my cinema, the only audience that matters seem to agree. This may not be the definitive Ninja Turtles experience, but it’s far from the worst thing that has had the Turtles name slapped on it over the years. So New York City is under threat from the evil Foot Clan, a gang of ragamuffins who are running amuck, untouched by authorities. Luckily, the dogged April O’Neil (Megan Fox) is hot on their heels...

Oz the Great and Powerful Review

Image
It's hard not to acknowledge Tim Burton's foray into Disney's Wonderland as the financier of Sam Raimi's Oz the Great and Powerful. After pulling in a cool billion worldwide, it makes good business sense for The House of Mouse to keep that CGI ball rolling. Oscar Diggs (James Franco), affectionately known as Oz is a small time carnival flim-flam man come magician. Travelling from town to town he courts many a small town girl, much to the chagrin of his faithful sidekick Frank (Zach Braff). Everything changes when he and his hot air balloon are caught in a twister and transported to the land of Oz. This is where the adventure begins.

Movie News - Evil Dead Begins Filming

For an entire generation of cinephiles, Sam Raimi's EVIL DEAD was the first foray into the world of horror while simultaneously ruining trips into the bush (woods).  For a generation of budding film makers it proved that with some motivated friends, a handful of tenacity and a hell of a lot of talent even the most incredible dreams (or nightmares) could be made.  1981's EVIL DEAD catapulted a young director by the name of Sam Raimi and a square jawed hunk-a-spunk by the name of Bruce Campbell into the spotlight.
