Back in 2011 we reviewed the first instalment of Thor and were impressed by just about every element however in hindsight, it lacked a sense of scale that could be expected of a film based around gods and monsters. In Thor: The Dark World, those concerns are smashed to pieces. Bor, father of Hannibal Lecter, grandfather of Captain Kirk's dad, was responsible for vanquishing the Dark Elves from the Nine Realms. Lead by the nefarious Malekith, a crackhead version of Legolas, the Dark Elves return in search of the ancient and destructive force, Aether. Then stuff with a hammer and lots of punching and Queen Amidala happens.

With a slightly more gritty look than in the previous film, the mighty Asgardian, Thor returns to the big screen in the very first trailer for Thor: The Dark World. Check it out after the jump!

Holy frijoles true believers, it's only 8 more sleeps until The Avengers ASSEMBLE! By the time we are through, we'll be able to stitch all of these clips together and watch the final film. But, until then lets watch 2 brand new clips of Loki being trapped like the rat that he is and Steve Rogers and the Odinson smacking down with a bunch of metal mongrels.

It's nearly game time. The coach has given his rousing speech, the players are ready and the crowd is on the edge of their seats. This is the culmination of all previous games. With an almost unbeaten record, The Avengers are ready to take the field. I can't quite explain just how excited I am to see this film so in the meantime, follow on after the jump and check out two all new featurettes from Marvel's THE AVENGERS!

Check your calendars, true believers! In just over a months time The Avengers will assemble on cinemas screen world wide. I will finally see Earth's mightiest heroes come together on the big screen, the realisation of a childhood dream. My favourite super team is almost here. The Superbowl is THE advertising opportunity of the year and as such, all of the big films were there but none were quite as big as Marvel's The Avengers! This is the holy grail of super team films, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk etcetera, etcetera. In this one minute clip we get our first good look at The Hulk in action, flying through the air with the greatest of ease. We also get a look at The Hulk standing back to back with his cohorts, showing that he really will be fighting alongside Thor, Iron Man and Cap and not just a proxy villain. Perhaps in order to tame the beast a little Hulkbuster is in order... one can only hope. Check out the official Superbowl trailer after the jump!

Thor & Loki: Blood Brothers retells the "Loki" mini series and subsequent graphic novel by Robert Rodi and Esad Ribic. Be forewarned that this dark and brooding tale doesn't contain a great deal of our golden haired thunder god, instead delving into the mind of his most dangerous foe, his brother Loki. Initially released digitally in the USA on iTunes, the Playstation Network and XBox Live, this is the first time that we Aussies have the chance to see the 5th title in Marvel Animation's motion comic line. Released locally by the good people at Magna Home Entertainment , Thor & Loki: Blood Brothers is available now on BluRay and DVD.

In Thor: God of Thunder, Thor battles through the numerous worlds of Norse mythology to save Asgard, the capital city of the Norse Gods. Thor must overcome monstrous foes lifted from the pages of the comics including Ulik, Ymir, and Surtur, as well as other monstrous denizens. Players will wield the iconic Mjölnir, Thor's legendary hammer, to fight enemies on an immense scale while controlling the elemental storm powers of lightning, thunder, and wind to vanquish enemies. As Thor earns Valor points through his exploits, players can acquire new abilities, powers, and weapon upgrades.

Marvel's latest step on the journey to The Avengers comes in the guise of Kenneth Branagh's action adventure epic, Thor. Potentially the most anticipated of Marvel Studios and Paramount Pictures collaborations manages to bring a lesser known superhero to the fore to create a film with much more soul than your usual cape caper. It's almost impossible to keep track of how this character came to the screen. Thor is the age old Norse god who was first characterised in comic book form in the pages of Marvel Comics' Journey into Mystery #83 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1966. He was "modernized" in the pages of a 2007 relaunch by artist Olivier Coipel and writer J. Michael Straczynski of Babylon 5 fame. Also, it has a real-life knight playing a god! Some great news for all of my fellow Aussies out there! The good people at Magna Home Entertainment will be releasing Thor & Loki: Blood Brothers on Blu Ray and DVD on the 29th of June 2011. The series is being released on XBox Live, The Playstation Network and iTunes but us poor convicts are getting a raw deal and can't download any of them! With 2010 coming to a head I thought I would take time to reflect on the highs and lows and what I am most excited about heading into the new year. I've also called in some favours from Twitter pals and a few big name creators including Marvel's finest: Mr Brian Michael Bendis, Jeff Parker, Victor Gischler and the man with a beard to rival that of Jason Aaron, Mr Chris Samnee. Thor: The Mighty Avenger, written by Roger Langridge and illustrated by Chris Samnee has been an outstanding book, an absolute pleasure to read. Surely with the Thor feature film just around the corner a new ongoing series set outside of continuity would be a hit with new and old readers alike. But critical acclaim can only keep a title afloat for so long and eventually the publisher will start to question the numbers. I have been a strong and very vocal supporter of this series which will sadly come to an end in January. But why?
