Avenge this! The avengers are back with more punching, more explosions and more Smaltzy Whedon dialogue than you can poke Loki's staff at! Topics discussed include: Ultron the moody robot, the MCU debut of Andy Serkis, Mutants that are definitely not mutants and even more mind control. Disney Infinity 2.0 (Xbox 360) Review

Image
At times, I question how far I've actually aged. Biologically I'm 24 years old, but it's anyone's guess what number the parts inside the brain case add up to. Sometimes I feel the relative youngness of those 24 years, but sometimes I regress into something closer to single digits. Disney Infinity 2.0  makes me regress, in a great way. There are few other ways one can enjoy Thor fighting Elsa from Frozen  in a treehouse, or Star-Lord and Dash from The Incredibles  having a foot-race through New York, or even Iron Man picking up and punting Jack Skellington over a gaping abyss like a flying red-and-gold man cannon, unless you regress somewhat. Last year's vanilla Infinity  (which I guess is 1.0?) was a gaming-cum-merchandising attempt by Disney to make the  Skylanders  lightning strike for them. It was a fairly simplistic but artistically engrossing game that featured a plethora of Disney characters - existing in the real world as wallet-puncturing plas...

Avengers Initiative now available on Android

Image
Although Avengers Initiative has been available for a while on iOs, it has only just made its way onto Android but from what we've been told, it was worth the wait. Having played the game on iPhone we can say that it is great fun, much like the highly successful Broken Blade series.  So, for fans of Marvel's Avengers or anyone looking for a new game on their Android, Avengers Initiative is definitely worth a play. Full details after the jump!

Q&A with Avengers Director Joss Whedon

Image
Sure, I didn't interview him myself but this very special Q&A from the upcoming Blu Ray & DVD release of Marvel's The Avengers was supplied to myself and only 3 other Aussie sites!  So on the back of confirmation that Joss Whedon will return to write and direct Avengers 2, enjoy our exclusive-ish Q&A with Mr Whedon himself.

Movie Previews - 8 Sleeps Until The Avengers!

Image
Holy frijoles true believers, it's only 8 more sleeps until The Avengers ASSEMBLE! By the time we are through, we'll be able to stitch all of these clips together and watch the final film. But, until then lets watch 2 brand new clips of Loki being trapped like the rat that he is and Steve Rogers and the Odinson smacking down with a bunch of metal mongrels.

Movie Previews - The Avengers, ENSEMBLE!

Image
It's nearly game time. The coach has given his rousing speech, the players are ready and the crowd is on the edge of their seats. This is the culmination of all previous games. With an almost unbeaten record, The Avengers are ready to take the field. I can't quite explain just how excited I am to see this film so in the meantime, follow on after the jump and check out two all new featurettes from Marvel's THE AVENGERS!

Comic Preview - Secret Avengers #24

Image
In my last post I went all gaga over Chris Samnee's art in Daredevil #12. Well it looks like it's going to be a good day because Marvel have also sent through a few pages from Secret Avengers #24 by Rick Remender, Gabriel Hardman and ever beautiful colours by Bettie B. Well Bettie B can colour me excited because this looks incredible. Check out some images after the jump.

Movie Previews - Avengers... ASSEMBLE!!!

Image
Wow, just wow! Little known fact, the silver foil covered Avengers vol. 1 #363 by Bob Harras and Steve Epting was the very first comic book that I bought with my own money all the way back in 1993. I read that book from cover to cover an incredible amount of times, certainly getting my moneys worth.  So it should be no surprise that I am waiting with bated breath for The Avengers to hit the big screen. Seeing them all separately has been great but seeing them together is going to be the realisation of a childhood dream. So without further ado, here is the newest trailer from the good folks at Disney!

Comic News - Avengers VS X-Men #1 Sneak Peek

Image
In just under 2 months we will potentially witness the biggest smack down in comic book history. Captain America VS Cyclops, Iron Man VS Wolverine and The Hulk VS whoever is close. Just to whet your appetite, check out a few pages from the upcoming first issue before putting it on your pull list.

Movie Previews - The Avengers Assemble at the Superbowl

Image
The Superbowl is THE advertising opportunity of the year and as such, all of the big films were there but none were quite as big as Marvel's The Avengers! This is the holy grail of super team films, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk etcetera, etcetera. In this one minute clip we get our first good look at The Hulk in action, flying through the air with the greatest of ease. We also get a look at The Hulk standing back to back with his cohorts, showing that he really will be fighting alongside Thor, Iron Man and Cap and not just a proxy villain. Perhaps in order to tame the beast a little Hulkbuster is in order... one can only hope. Check out the official Superbowl trailer after the jump!

Comic News - The War Begins in AvX #0

Image
The battle begins in March with our first look at Marvel's latest event, Avengers VS X-Men. Who will reign supreme? Who will be left licking their wounds? X-Men may be a scrappy bunch but I've got my money on The Avengers.  Check out the official press release and some beautiful art by Frank Cho and the return of the Scarlet Witch.

Comic News - Marvel Art Appreciation Month

Image
As far as themed variant covers go, this has to be up there with the best. It's great to see artists flexing their skills and showing us that they're not a just a bunch of funny book doodlers but a group of extremely talented artists and undoubtedly just as much art geeks as comic geeks. Without a doubt my favourite is Alex Maleev's take on Egon Schiele.

Comic News - AvX #1 Cover Revealed

Image
I didn't think it was possible. I swore to myself after "Fear Itself" I would pass on any upcoming event titles, and then this happens. Avengers Vs X-Men is shaping up to be a tremendously fun event in contrast to the brooding that overwhelmed Fear Itself. To make things even better, Bendis will be in Australia for Supanova when this comic drops! Grab a copy, get it signed an pick his brain when in Melbourne or the Gold Coast. AvX has Check out Jim Cheung's cover after the jump!

Interview - THE one, the only Brian Michael Bendis

Image
I'm not sure why, but I just keep getting interviews with some of the biggest names in comic books. Some say it's because of my devilishly good looks, to this my wife says 'nay! It's far more likely to be out of pity but either way, I'll take it. Read on for our chat about digital comics, medical opinions on event fatigue and Crocodile Dundee. So here today I present to you the current writer of Avengers, New Avengers, Ultimate Comics Spider-Man and the massive smash hit Scarlet, Mr. Brian Michael Bendis.

Marvel Preview - Avengers vs Pet Avengers #1

Image
Avengers vs Pet Avengers Issue #1 Now people may think that the Pet Avengers is silly and childish and for the most part you'd be true. But the truth is, these are some incredibly fun books with some of the prettiest art going around. I loved the first two minis and I'll definitely be picking up this book up. Thanks to Marvel for supplying this preview which at 8 pages long is nearly half the book!
