In 2003 Gore Verbinski and Johnny Depp teamed up to deliver a film based upon a fifty year old theme park ride, which took the world by surprise and cemented Johnny Depp as a mega star. Ten years on, they are now bringing the unlikeliest of films to the big screen: an adaptation of a television show from the 1950s. The Lone Ranger is exactly what I want in a block buster: fast paced action, straight-forward characters, caricature villains and bucket loads of fun. I’m tipping this to be one of the better-performing films of the year. 

Not long to go now until The Lone Ranger stampedes into cinemas and this latest behind the scenes featurette has me champing at the bit. Director Gore Verbinski and Producer Jerry Bruckheimer sure know how to make an epic adventure film and the amount of practical effects in The Lone Ranger has me all sorts of excited. Remember that giddy feeling of sheer excitement that you felt when you first watched the Pirates of the Caribbean trailer? Well, prepare to feel it again. Back in February we reported that Disney's newest franchise, The Lone Ranger, had begun production.  Now, 8 months later, I can official say that we here are eagerly anticipating Gore Verbinski's latest adventure. Just last week we announced with much joy that Verbinski and Bruckheimer's Lone Ranger film had started production. So just a few days later we get our very first look at Johnny Depp as Tonto and Armie Reed as John Reid/The Lone Ranger. Check it out after the jump!

Hi-yo Silver, AWAAAAAY! Walt Disney Studios have announced that the long planned Lone Ranger film has officially commenced production and will reunite Pirates allumni Depp, Verbinski and Bruckheimer while adding The Social Network's Armie Hammer into the masked mans... err... mask.
