Star Trek Into Darkness Kicks it up a Notch

Image
Being lucky enough to be invited to a screening of the first 30 minutes of Star Trek Into Darkness, I can promise that this film is bringing the epic. As a lifelong Trekker/Trekkie, JJ Abrams and the rest of the Bad Robot crew have taken everything that I love about Star Trek and made it accessible to the masses. Trek is no longer just for us geeks, Star Trek is for everybody - a fact that Mr Roddenberry would no doubt smile about. Without further ado, we present you with an brand new trailer and this statement: May 9th cannot come soon enough.

Movie News - Evil Dead Teaser Terrifies

Image
Sweet mother hubbard, I think I just pee'd a little. After months of speculating whether the remake of Evil Dead would be any good a teaser pops up and scares the poop out of us here at Geek HQ.  After recent disappointments in the field of horror films it appears as though Evil Dead have got it right. This remake of the 1981 cult classic is produced by Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Robert G. Tapert - reuniting the filmmakers of the original Evil Dead series. Written by Sam Raimi and Fede Alvarez. The film stars Jane Levy (Suburgatory), Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas and Australian actress Elizabeth Blackmore. Check out the official Australian teaser after the jump!

Movie Previews - Carrie Teaser

Image
Chloë Grace Moretz is quickly becoming my favourite actress. Taking on a great range of roles including the eponymous lead in 2013's Carrie which was so famously portrayed by Sissy Spacek in the 1976 incarnation. Based upon Stephen King's original novel and directed by Kimberly Pierce (Boys Don't Cry), Carrie has more than enough pedigree to become a sleeper hit in 2013. "Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz) is a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom." Check out the all new teaser after the jump!

Movie Previews - New Django Unchained Trailer

Image
We here at Geek Of Oz were excited about Django Unchained before this trailer, in fact we were excited for Tarantino's next film regardless of what it was! So needless to say, after watching this newest trailer... we have no words. "Set in the South two years before the Civil War, Django Unchained stars Academy Award®-winner Jamie Foxx as Django, a slave whose brutal history with his former owners lands him face-to-face with German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Academy Award®-winner Christoph Waltz). Schultz is on the trail of the murderous Brittle brothers, and only Django can lead him to his bounty. The unorthodox Schultz acquires Django with a promise to free him upon the capture of the Brittles – dead or alive. Success leads Schultz to free Django, though the two men choose not to go their separate ways. Instead, Schultz seeks out the South’s most wanted criminals with Django by his side. Honing vital hunting skills, Django remains focused on one goal: findin...

Movie Trailer - New Amazing Spider-Man Trailer

Image
The 4th of July might be Independence Day for our American friends but for me, perhaps for the rest of my life, the 4th of July will be The Amazing Spider-Man day. Okay, that may be a little bit of an  overreaction but honestly, I'm really jazzed to see Spidey back in action. This new trailer gives us a better look at Doc Connors, The Lizard and of course our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man. While you're at it, click on the poster to the left to see it in all of its glory. Check out the all new trailer after the jump!

Movie News - Pitbull Goes Back in Time for MIB3

Image
If I'm to be completely honest, I was actually a little disappointed that we aren't getting a title track from Mr. Smith himself but maybe that's just because I'm still living in 1997. Much to my surprise, Pitbull isn't just a cranky breed of dog, it is also the name of a rapper from Miami who has supplied the title track to Men in Black 3, "Back in Time".  Check it out in Pitbull's live performance of the track after the jump!

Movie Preview - Nazis Return in IRON SKY!

Image
Sure, it doesn't exact look like the highest budget film out there but budget isn't everything. Described as a German-Finnish-Australian science-fiction comedy film (that's a whole lotta hyphens!) Even with a modest budget this film looks like a blast of the tongue in cheek variety.

Movie Previews - The Avengers, ENSEMBLE!

Image
It's nearly game time. The coach has given his rousing speech, the players are ready and the crowd is on the edge of their seats. This is the culmination of all previous games. With an almost unbeaten record, The Avengers are ready to take the field. I can't quite explain just how excited I am to see this film so in the meantime, follow on after the jump and check out two all new featurettes from Marvel's THE AVENGERS!

Movie Preview - Brave Unleashes a Curse

Image
Set in the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland, Disney•Pixar’s “Brave” follows the heroic journey of Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald), a skilled archer and headstrong daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to change her fate, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the unruly and uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane), unleashing chaos in the kingdom. When she turns to an eccentric Witch (voice of Julie Walters), she is granted an ill-fated wish and the ensuing peril forces Merida to harness all of her resources—including her mischievous triplet brothers—to undo a beastly curse and discover the meaning of true bravery. Directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, and produced by Katherine Sarafian, “Brave” is a grand adventure full of heart, memorable characters a...

Movie Preview - Another Day in Avengers HQ

Image
If you didn't realise by now, I am the giddiest man-child in town all due to my acute case of Avengers fever! The hours cannot move fast enough for my liking. Sure I'd be closer to death but I'd also be closer to seeing the worlds greatest super team on the big screen! Black Widow kicks some serious butt, taking it all in her stride without missing a beat. Ok, while I breath into this paper bag, you watch this brand new clip! Avengers, ASSEMBLE!

Movie Preview - Total Recall

Image
I came into this trailer with a bad attitude. I instantly thought "another remake?" but by some divine miracle, I DIG IT! The production design is awesome and the action looks insane. Realistically, I don't see this so much as a remake of the Arnie classic, but another interpretation of the legendary Phillip K Dick short story, We Can Remember it for you Wholesale. Check out the latest trailer after the jump!

Movie Previews - Behind the Pirates

Image
In cinemas tomorrow is the newest Aardman film, The Pirates! Band of Misfits in 3D. "In The Pirates! Band of Misfits, Hugh Grant stars in his first animated role as the luxuriantly bearded Pirate Captain – a boundlessly enthusiastic, if somewhat less-than-successful, terror of the High Seas.  With a rag-tag crew at his side (Martin Freeman, Brendan Gleeson, Russell Tovey, and Ashley Jensen), and seemingly blind to the impossible odds stacked against him, the Captain has one dream: to beat his bitter rivals Black Bellamy (Jeremy Piven) and Cutlass Liz (Salma Hayek) to the much coveted Pirate Of The Year Award.  It’s a quest that takes our heroes from the shores of exotic Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London.  Along the way they battle a diabolical queen (Imelda Staunton) and team up with a haplessly smitten young scientist (David Tennant), but never lose sight of what a pirate loves best: adventure!" Pedigree alone should be enough to piqu...
