Movie Review - Cowboys & Aliens

Image
Cowboys & Aliens contains just that... Cowboys & Aliens. Based upon the graphic novel of the same name by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, it is an action adventure film with some very big name talent involved. Directed by Jon Favreau, produced by Brian Grazer, Ron Howard and Steven Spielberg and with a screenplay by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman it can't possibly be bad... can it?

Movie News - Q & A with Captain America

Image
Toward the end of the filming schedule on Captain America: The First Avenger, an incredibly lucky group of international journalists (not me) were flown to London for a question and answer session with Cap himself, Chris Evans. Bloody lucky buggers...

Movie Review - Captain America: The First Avenger

Image
The film's tag line asks us to "Discover the Origin of the First Avenger" and discover we do. Set across two distinct time periods, Marvel Studio's latest blockbuster, Captain America: The First Avenger, takes us back in time to Europe and the United States in the 1940's. It is here that we meet our eponymous hero Steve Roger's, a 5 foot tall weakling who so desperately wants to join the fight against Nazi's and bullies across the world. Director Joe Johnston (The Wolfman, Jurassic Park 3, October Sky) takes the helm in this last Marvel film before next years release of The Avengers, and what a blockbuster that is shaping up to be! Continue on after the jump for my review and a few sneak peak videos.

Movie Previews - Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

I must make an admission, I thought that the Mission Impossible franchise (and Cruise) should hang up their boots. That is, until I saw the latest trailer. It seriously looks like a great fun action movie and any film with Simon Pegg has to be enjoyable at the very least. Check out the trailer after the jump.

Movie Review - Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Image
Transformers: Dark of the Moon is the third in series of the Michael Bay directed Hasbro franchise and is without a doubt the best of all three. The basic outline of the story ties into the cold war era space race. American scientists make a discovery which coerces the United States government into putting a man on the moon. What they discover is a crashed Autobot ship which had fled from the Cybertronian Civil War. The Americans bring back a number of artifacts and lock away their secrets for the next 50 years. The 35 people who knew about the operation are slowly dying in suspicious circumstances. One of the operations most well known collaborators, Buzz Aldrin, meets with Optimus Prime to advise of what they found, what they brought back and why.

Movie Previews - Cowboys & Aliens

Image
Directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man), Cowboys & Aliens stars Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde and tells the story of an alien invasion which just so happens to arrive in Arizona, 1873. Its all six shooters, spaceships, tumbleweeds and lasers as Jake Lonergan and his posse try to stop the alien invasion. Based on the comic book written by Fred Van Lente and Andrew Foley and produced by Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Spielberg, Kurtzman and Orci. If nothing else, it should be a visual feast. Cowboys & Aliens is set for Australian release on the 18th of August 2011.

Movie Review - Kung Fu Panda 2

Image
We all know that sequels suck, right? Thankfully, DreamWorks have changed this with Kung Fu Panda 2. There is so much to like about this movie. Following on from where the 2008 film left off we join Dragon Master Po and the Furious Five, Tigress, Viper, Mantis, Monkey and Crane as they guard the Valley of Peace from external threats. Unbeknownst to Po, an evil peacock named Lord Shen has planned world domination but the only thing in his way is our friend, Po the but kicking panda.

Movie Previews - Transformers 3 Extended Trailer

The good people at Paramount Pictures have sent through this brand new and extended trailer for the upcoming Transformers 3: Dark of The Moon. The more I see of this movie the more excited I am to see it! Is that the Space Bridge I see? It's good to see a bit of acknowledgement for the original animated series. Autobots, ROLL OUT!
