Last weekend I had a chance to interview Ryan Ferrier about his new series D4VE2, a sequel to his smash hit sci-fi comedy series D4VE from IDW Comics. We talked about the creation of series, and little about what's to come next. Enjoy. Billy Tournas: Hi Ryan,  thanks for taking the time out for this interview.   I cannot explain how excited I was to hear the news about another D4VE series!  Since we last spoke ( July 2014 ) D4VE was re-released in print form through IDW, and now has a sequel! Can you tell me a little about how all this came about? Ryan Ferrier: Thank you! I was incredibly excited when the opportunity first came up, to say the least. It was actually really quite quick and simple: the response and reaction to D4VE's single issue IDW releases was pretty great, and IDW believed in the series, so they floated the idea of continuing the story past Valentin and I. Last weekend I the chance to have an exit interview with Ryan Ferrier after his mini series D4VE finished. We talk about the series and what he has instore next. Billy Tournas: Ryan, thanks for sitting down with me today. Since we last spoke your miniseries D4VE from Monkeybrain comics has ended. Ryan Ferrier: It’s come and gone. Yes with its finite ending. How has it been since the ending? It’s been real bitter sweet for Valentin and myself. It was Awesome in that people seemed to really enjoy it, but it was also really hard to see it end just because as a team we were firing on all cylinders, and it was a lot of fun. A lot of people didn’t realise it was done in 5 issues and were saying that there were surprised that issue #5 was the last one. So it kind rang true for us too. This weekend I had the pleasure of talking to comic book creator Ryan Ferrier. We discussed his latest series D4VE , as well as touching on some of his works such as Tiger Lawyer , and discussing our love of TV’s The Golden Girls. Billy Tournas: Ryan, thanks for taking the time out to chat. D4VE is a story, at its core, about a former hero now dealing with a crippling mid-life crisis. The Earth is inhabited only by humanoid-esque robots. Into its 3rd issue now, I'm curious as to where the idea for D4VE come from?  Ryan Ferrier: It kinda came from me wanting to do a big action book, a sci-fi kind of story. At the time I was reminiscing about my previous job which was very much like D4VE’s job. A horrible 9 to 5... Stuck in a Cubicle? Yeah. The two kinda come together and worked its way into D4VE.
