The Deep: The Vanishing Island Launches this Saturday

If you're a fan of Aussie comics (that's probably why you're here), a fan of animation or just a fan of AWESOME things you should head to All Star Comics this Saturday for the official book launch of Tom Taylor and James Brouwer's THE DEEP: THE VANISHING ISLAND . Not only will you be able to get your hands on the books and meet the creators but you'll also be able to check out an exclusive preview screening of the upcoming animated series. If you're a longtime reader of Geek Of Oz, you'll know that we love The Deep . The all ages wonderment created by Tom Taylor and James Brouwer has taken to comic world by storm and now they're moving into the third dimension!  After just watching the newest incarnation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, it's instantly apparent that The Deep will be in good hands with animators Technicolor. Interview - The Deep creators, Tom Taylor & James Brouwer

Today I have the pleasure of speaking to writer Tom Taylor and artist James Brouwer, creators of my favourite book of recent time , The Deep: Here be Dragons.  In case you haven't heard, The Deep: Here be Dragons is the Aurealis award winning graphic novel from Aussie duo, Tom Taylor and James Brouwer, and the patriotic streak doesn't end there. This book is beautifully presented by the good folks at the independent Aussie comics company, Gestalt. Comic News - The Deep Cleans Up!

Not long ago, on this very site, we were positively GUSHING about how wonderful The Deep: Here be Dragons was. Well, it looks as though we have pretty good taste because overnight, Tom Taylor and James Brouwer were awarded with an Aurealis Award for the best Graphic Novel of 2012. We, the Geek of Oz, would like to congratulate Mr Taylor, Mr Brouwer, Gestalt Publishing and everyone else involved not only for the big win, but also for creating such a fantastic and beautiful story. Bravo and as always, have faith in the fish.

Comic Review - The Deep: Here be Dragons

Long time followers of The Geek of Oz will know that I have a massive soft spot for all ages comics. If you're not familiar with this fact, go read my rant  on the subject and then come straight back... I'll wait here while you do... Aussie independent publishers, Gestalt , bring us The Deep: Here be Dragons, an original graphic novel which is like a crazy mix of SeaQuest DSV and Man of Action's Ben 10.
