New Elysium trailer drops and it looks AWESOME!

Image
Oh. My. Lord. After his incredible feature film debut with District 9, Neill Blomkamp returns with a gigantic bowl of eye candy in ELYSIUM. Having proven that he can write a damn fine story, Blomkamp is promising to deliver a sic-fi epic for the ages. In the year 2154, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. The people of Earth are desperate to escape the planet’s crime and poverty, and they critically need the state-of-the-art medical care available on Elysium – but some in Elysium will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve their citizens’ luxurious lifestyle. The only man with the chance to bring equality to these worlds is Max (Matt Damon), an ordinary guy in desperate need to get to Elysium. With his life hanging in the balance, he reluctantly takes on a dangerous mission – one that pits him against Elysium’s Secretary Del...

GI Joe: Retaliation Sizzles!

Image
I'm not entirely sure what PR people mean by the term sizzle but it makes me think of food and I like food! Regardless, we've just received these new clips for the upcoming GI Joe: Retaliation. Sure, the first film was so-so but from what we've seen so far, Retaliation looks like it's going to be a whole lot of fun. Stay tuned in coming weeks for Stu's review of the film and follow on after the jump for a fistful of new clips.

Star Trek Into Darkness Featurette Brings the Epic

As a massive Star Trek fan, from the original series to Abrams reincarnation, Into Darkness has me coloured all shades of excited. Django Unchained "You Scaring Me" Clip

Image
Not many films generate as much buzz as a Tarantino film does. Since last year we here at Geek HQ have had people asking if we've heard more about Django, when are we reviewing Django and how do you pronounce Django? Well, the campaign trail is heating up and it's only weeks away now. Check out the latest clip titled, "You Scaring Me" which just reinforces my continuous claim that Tarantino is the greatest dialogue writer in cinema today. Check out the all new clip after the jump and remember, the D is silent!

A mainstay on 2012's "Best of" lists, Dishonored has an average ranking of 90.75% from  Gamerankings.com . While games revolving around the exploits of professional assassins aren't anything new, the fluid gameplay and steampunk aesthetic have taken Bethesda's Dishonored to a whole new level. Bethesda is pleased to announce that they’ve just released a new gameplay trailer for Dishonored: Dunwall City Trials, the first add-on pack for the critically-acclaimed first-person action game developed by Arkane Studios. Movie News - Evil Dead Teaser Terrifies

Image
Sweet mother hubbard, I think I just pee'd a little. After months of speculating whether the remake of Evil Dead would be any good a teaser pops up and scares the poop out of us here at Geek HQ.  After recent disappointments in the field of horror films it appears as though Evil Dead have got it right. This remake of the 1981 cult classic is produced by Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Robert G. Tapert - reuniting the filmmakers of the original Evil Dead series. Written by Sam Raimi and Fede Alvarez. The film stars Jane Levy (Suburgatory), Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas and Australian actress Elizabeth Blackmore. Check out the official Australian teaser after the jump!

Trailer - Marvel's Iron Man 3

Image
That's right, true believers! The very first trailer for Marvel's upcoming Iron Man 3 has finally arrived. 'nuff said. Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Movie Previews - Carrie Teaser

Image
Chloë Grace Moretz is quickly becoming my favourite actress. Taking on a great range of roles including the eponymous lead in 2013's Carrie which was so famously portrayed by Sissy Spacek in the 1976 incarnation. Based upon Stephen King's original novel and directed by Kimberly Pierce (Boys Don't Cry), Carrie has more than enough pedigree to become a sleeper hit in 2013. "Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz) is a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom." Check out the all new teaser after the jump!

Movie Trailer - New Amazing Spider-Man Trailer

Image
The 4th of July might be Independence Day for our American friends but for me, perhaps for the rest of my life, the 4th of July will be The Amazing Spider-Man day. Okay, that may be a little bit of an  overreaction but honestly, I'm really jazzed to see Spidey back in action. This new trailer gives us a better look at Doc Connors, The Lizard and of course our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man. While you're at it, click on the poster to the left to see it in all of its glory. Check out the all new trailer after the jump!

Comic Preview - Secret Avengers #24

Image
In my last post I went all gaga over Chris Samnee's art in Daredevil #12. Well it looks like it's going to be a good day because Marvel have also sent through a few pages from Secret Avengers #24 by Rick Remender, Gabriel Hardman and ever beautiful colours by Bettie B. Well Bettie B can colour me excited because this looks incredible. Check out some images after the jump.

Comic Preview - Daredevil #12

Image
Just when I thought Mark Waid's Daredevil couldn't get any better, they get one of my personal favourite artists on board in the form of Mr Chris Samnee. He is the perfect artist for the job and I can only hope that this isn't just a one time deal. I certainly love Paolo Rivera's art but Samnee is one of the greatest visual story tellers in the biz. Check out a special sneak peek after the jump!

Movie Previews - Avengers... ASSEMBLE!!!

Image
Wow, just wow! Little known fact, the silver foil covered Avengers vol. 1 #363 by Bob Harras and Steve Epting was the very first comic book that I bought with my own money all the way back in 1993. I read that book from cover to cover an incredible amount of times, certainly getting my moneys worth.  So it should be no surprise that I am waiting with bated breath for The Avengers to hit the big screen. Seeing them all separately has been great but seeing them together is going to be the realisation of a childhood dream. So without further ado, here is the newest trailer from the good folks at Disney!

Movie Previews - The Avengers Assemble at the Superbowl

Image
The Superbowl is THE advertising opportunity of the year and as such, all of the big films were there but none were quite as big as Marvel's The Avengers! This is the holy grail of super team films, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk etcetera, etcetera. In this one minute clip we get our first good look at The Hulk in action, flying through the air with the greatest of ease. We also get a look at The Hulk standing back to back with his cohorts, showing that he really will be fighting alongside Thor, Iron Man and Cap and not just a proxy villain. Perhaps in order to tame the beast a little Hulkbuster is in order... one can only hope. Check out the official Superbowl trailer after the jump!

Movie Previews - John Carter Superbowl Spot

Image
Check out the new John Carter trailer below. This trailer debuted yesterday during the Superbowl (go Giants!) and at 1 minute long it would have cost The House of Mouse a cool $7 million US dollars. Odin's Raven! That's nearly as much as I earn in an entire week!  In all seriousness, this is shaping up to be a sleeper hit. It is in the perfect situation to surprise audiences with its slick styling and action that is off the chain. I still remember how Pirates of the Caribbean snuck up on us all and blew everyone out of the water (pun entirely intended). Check out the trailer after the jump!

Movie Previews - The Amazing Spider-Man

Image
At 5:00pm this afternoon I had the absolute pleasure of joining a cinema chock full of my fellow geeks for an exclusive preview of The Amazing Spider-Man. This wasn't just any preview, this was the WORLD PREMIERE of the preview. It's no secret that I'm a massive geek and Spider-Man is by far my childhood favourite. I enjoyed the recent Sam Raimi helmed films but after seeing this all new trailer and some footage that is still in post production, there is no comparison. I'll put it this way. Tobey Maguire is to Andrew Garfield as Val Kilmer is to Christian Bale. No, really. Director Marc Webb (his surname is Webb, how can this go wrong?) blew my mind with 500 Days of Summer and it looks as though he brings his mastery of the human element to The Amazing Spider-Man. In the 20 minutes of footage that I saw, I was reassured that this is going to something special. Marc Webb has created the Spider-Man that I had always imagined. Please, follow on after the jump for the off...

Marvel Preview - Captain America: Patriot #3

Image
The folks at the House of Ideas have sent through this preview of Captain America: Patriot #3 by was of a little electronic homing pigeon named Herbert. I have to say, Breitweiser's art is a great match for the setting of this series. If I were taking an IQ test I would state "Breitweiser is to Captain America: Patriot what Cooke was to Justice League: The New Frontier". First of all, a couple of quotes which I've CUT AND PASTED from the press release, much to the chagrin of Mr Bendis. I'm sorry Mr. Bendis, please don't judge me!

Marvel Preview - Shadowland #4

Image
Shadowland #4 The good folks at the House of Ideas have released this preview at the upcoming Shadowland #4 by Andy Diggle and Billy Tan. I have one small question... does Wolverine have super speed? Because he's absolutely everywhere at the moment. Not complaining, just saying...
