The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (PS4) Review

Image
For quite a while there it was difficult to find a good quality video game based on a comic book, not to mention a film. So it comes as no surprise that The Amazing Spider-Man 2, a game based on a film which is based on a comic book, is rather lacklustre. Sure, swinging around the city is fun but it's been done, and done rather well, for many a Spider game. Luckily for me, and for this game, I'm a Spidey fan. Spidey has been my absolute favourite since I was a wee chap. Whether it was his wise-cracking nature or everyman demeanour, there was just something that drew me to ol' webhead. So unless this game had absolutely no redeeming qualities, there's a good chance that I'd enjoy it. Swinging around the city is fun, and is probably one of the best things about the game but even that has its issues. The camera has a tendency to bug out (pun intended), particularly when you transfer from web-slinging to wall-climbing. There's nothing particularly new abo...

Captain America: The Winter Soldier Review

Before I start this review I need to be up front about something. I've been reading comics from a very young age, mostly Marvel, and I still read them now. I suppose you could call me a bit of a fanboy when it comes to the Marvel Universe and their diverse range of characters. Now that we've got that out of the way, I can honestly say that even if I wasn't a Marvel fanboy, I'd still love and enjoy Captain America: The Winter Soldier as much as I do. The ninth instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Captain America: The Winter Soldier, has Cap and Black Widow working for Nick Fury when S.H.I.E.L.D comes under attack from an unknown enemy. Without knowing who they can trust, they must uncover the enemy before it destroys them all. The script is very much akin to a 70’s political/spy thriller that delivers on all accounts, which has relevance even to this date about the true cost and meaning of freedom. Steve Rogers is a man out time, and that fee...

STAN LEE to appear in Lego Marvel Superheroes

Image
Stan Lee is a name synonymous with Marvel Comics but now the co-creator of Spider-Man, Iron Man, X-Men, The Fantastic Four and many others is fighting alongside his creations in LEGO MARVEL SUPERHEROES. See him spin webs, stretch fantastically and Hulk out alongside X-Men, Avengers and the Fantastic Four. The LEGO franchise has expanded from it's 1932 beginnings as a wooden toy manufacturer to the impending release of a Hollywood backed blockbuster film and in the midst of it all is the tremendously successful series of video games. While these video games may be based upon already successful franchises, the LEGO icon and namesake "leg godt", Danish for "play well", serves as the ethos for past and future productions. In short: if it's Lego, it's fun. Check out what Stan "the man" Lee has to say about his Lego experience. EXCELSIOR!

Movie News - Emma Stone & Stan Lee VLOGS!

Image
What's a vlog I hear you ask. I dunno, what's a vlog with you? (Thank you Timon and Pumbaa) Basically a VLOG is a video log, a video journal or in this case a behind the scenes chat with some very important people associated with a very important upcoming film, The Amazing Spider-Man. Important to who you may ask, important to me I reply. As a lifelong web-head, I am doing proverbial backflips in anticipation. Check out an insiders look at the upcoming film from Emma Stone (Gwen Stacey) and Stan Lee (STAN LEE!) after the jump!

Movie Review - Captain America: The First Avenger

The film's tag line asks us to "Discover the Origin of the First Avenger" and discover we do. Set across two distinct time periods, Marvel Studio's latest blockbuster, Captain America: The First Avenger, takes us back in time to Europe and the United States in the 1940's. It is here that we meet our eponymous hero Steve Roger's, a 5 foot tall weakling who so desperately wants to join the fight against Nazi's and bullies across the world. Director Joe Johnston (The Wolfman, Jurassic Park 3, October Sky) takes the helm in this last Marvel film before next years release of The Avengers, and what a blockbuster that is shaping up to be! Continue on after the jump for my review and a few sneak peak videos.
