WE LIKE TO WATCH: EPISODE SIX - FIRST MONDAY IN MAY

Image
Episode 6!  Stu and I decided to watch the movie that lost the coin toss in the last episode, so we ventured to Dendy Cinema to watch First Monday In May.  First Monday In May is a documentary by Andrew Rossi, and follows the creation of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's most attended fashion exhibit in history: the 2015 art exhibition China: Through the Looking Glass by curator Andrew Bolton at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. The film follows a years worth of planning by Andrew Bolton and Anna Wintour for the Exhibition and the Annual Met Gala that accompanies it. It also depicts the daily life of Vogue editor Anna Wintour and tries to question fashion as art.  As well the film Stu and I discuss what else we've been watching this and discus the latest in movie news. As always it would make our day if you could take a couple of minutes to rate and reviews us on iTunes or drop us some feedback below! Really keen to have your input in the show. Enjoy...

Currently touring Australia is the incredibly exciting Evangelion Art Exhibition. After wowing audiences on the Gold Coast, Shinji and friends will be heading to Sydney where the good folks at the Japan Foundation will be holding a very special Q&A with Japanese voice actress Yuko Miyamura, the voice of Asuka!  To add some icing to that already tasty cake, the Q&A will be facilitated by yours truly! Looking forward to seeing you there. Follow on after the jump for all of the details and don't forget to book ahead of time, seats are strictly limited!

Review - The Truth is a Cave in the Black Mountains

Image
Tonight I had the pleasure of watching, and listening to The Truth is a Cave in the Black Mountains. A short story written by Mr Neil Gaiman , with painted projections by Mr Eddie Campbell and with a score arranged by and performed live by Sydney string quartet, Fourplay . You could end your reading here and be comforted by the knowledge that the experience was wonderful but please read on while I paint you a more detailed picture.

The Maiden Voyage

So here we are, my inaugural post on the Geek from Oz. As is the general procedure in social settings, here is me. I'm a geeky chap from Sydney Australia, there, I've said it. There first step is admitting that you have a problem. I'm a massive comic book, movie, book and overall pop culture geek. So in the future that is just what you'll see, posts with news, reviews and other nuggets of goodness about my interests. Hopefully I'll actually post something worth reading, right?
